Hélio Eiji Sueta

Hélio Eiji Sueta was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on February 3, 1958. He obtained an Electrical Engineering degree from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (EPUSP) in 1981, a Master´s degree in Electrical Engineering (EPUSP - 1998), and a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering (EPUSP, 2005). He is currently the Deputy Head of the Planning, Analysis and Energy Development Scientific Division of the Energy and Environment Institute (IEE-USP) of the University of São Paulo. He was the Head of the Technical Section of High Currents of IEE USP from 1991 to 2001, where he worked in short-circuit testing and interruption of high currents of electrical power equipment. He developed his doctoral thesis in the area of protection of structures against lightning. Mr. Sueta currently participates in standardization commissions as the secretary of the CE 64.10 (Protection of Structures against Lightning) and is a Brazilian Member of IEC TC 81 - Lightning Protection. He has participated in more than 100 national and international symposiums mainly in the area of lightning, and have published over 200 technical papers in journals, annals of symposiums, and interviews. He has also participated in 13 research projects, has participated in 12 Standardization Commissions, more than 25 internal and external commissions, and 15 master's, doctorate and qualification defenses.
