Fire Accidents in India (Fire from Short-Circuit)

Fire accidents due electrical reasons are increasing over the year especially in hospitals. Various reaons include incomplete knowledge about electrical installation and not giving importance to safety procedure in hospitals.


In this blog, fire accidents from january 2021 which happened mainly due to electrical installitions have been noted down.


Maharastra: Hospital fire in Bhandara take the lives of 10 babies (9 janurary 2021)

January 9, 2021: 10 infants were killed in a fire accident at the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the Bhandara District General Hospital in Maharastra.

Mumbai: 11 dies after Mumbai hospital fire accident (25 march 2021)

March 25 2021, about 11 Coronavirus infected patients died after a fire broke out on the first floor of Dream Mall, which had a dedicated Coronavirus treatment facility. The incident took place in the Bhandup area of Mumbai.

Visakhapatnam: Major fire breaks out in scrap company in Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (11 april 2021)

March 11 2021, a major fire broke out in one of the scrap company in Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone in Duvvada on the outskirts of Vizag. The fire accident occurred in the scarp material area due to alleged short circuit. No casualties or injuries due to being a Sunday.



Maharastra: Hospital fire accident in Virar takes 15 lives(23 april 2021)

April 23 2021, this year, about 15 Coronavirus positive patients died in a fire accident at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Vijay Vallabh Hospital. The said hospital is located in Virar, about 50 km away from the city of Mumbai. No safety agency was appointed to carry out the fire audit of the hospital premises was one of the main reasons for this fire.



Surat: 4 patients died when fire broke out at Ayush Hospital (26 April 2021)

April 26 2021, four patients of coronavirus died in Surat after a fire broke out at the city's Ayush Hospital

When the fire broke out, 10 COVID patients were under treatment on the fifth floor of the hospital.



Maharastra: Mumbra hospital fire accident in April, reported 4 dead (28 April 2021)

April 28 2021, morning, a fire broke out at the Prime Criticare hospital in Mumbra, leading to the death of 4 patients. The hospital fell under the jurisdiction of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) which had claimed that all hospitals were fire-resistant. The accident occurred due to electric faults on the premises.



Bangalore: Minor fire breaks out at laboratory of Mazumdar Shaw Hospital (1 may 2021)

May 1 2021, there were no casualties or major damage the cause is due to a cluster of electric wires had burnt which caused fire and smoke.


Andhra Pradesh: Major fire breaks out at HPCL unit in Vizag (25 may 2021)

May 25 2021, a major fire broke out in a unit of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in the Malkapuram in Vizag city. The exact reason for the incident is yet to be ascertained. The workers in the plant have managed to come out and saved their lives.



Shimla:8 houses lost in Kinnaur fire, 16 families affected (16 sep 2021)

Sep 16 2021,eight houses were destroyed, and 16 families affected in a major fire on Wednesday at Ramni village of Kinnaur district’s Nichar tehsil. No loss of life is reported. The administration sourced a fire tender from JSW Hydro Power project.



Kochi: Dangling cables spark fire on electric line in Kochi (29 oct 2021)

Oct 29 2021,with the telecom service providers, KSEB and other agencies drawing overhead cables through electric poles in a negligent manner, accidents caused by dangling and broken cables are being reported in the city on a daily basis. Fortunately, all the accidents are mild ones and there had not been any casualties due to the cable menace



Ahmedabad: Fire department line blazes with five SOS calls in 2 hours (3 nov 2021)

Nov 3 2021,at least five major fire calls were reported from various parts of the city between 8pm and 10pm on Tuesday. A major fire broke out in the distribution panel behind Dhananjay Tower in Satellite, while eight firefighters were rushed to Guptanagar in Vasna where a wood godown was burning. No casualties were reported from any of the incidents.



November: Hospital accident fire in Ahmednagar left 11 dead (6 nov 2021)

Nov 6 2021,a major fire broke out at the District Hospital, killing at least 11 coronavirus patients and leaving scores of others injured.
